Pro-Life Action League boldly takes abortion message to the streets
August 5, 2011(Rockford, IL) As U.S. legislators battled over raising the debt ceiling, it was clear that one thing motivated them to overcome gridlock: the ugly truth that national default would lead to economic chaos if an agreement was not reached. But while financial disaster was averted at the last hour, there remain ugly truths for the nation to face. This week, Rockford’s citizenry will have the opportunity to face another ugly truth—this one, a matter of life and death.
This Tuesday, pro-life witnesses will line the roads at selected locations in Rockford, holding pictures of beautiful preborn babies juxtaposed with huge graphic photographs of aborted babies. The dramatic display will visually expose the tragedy of their tiny broken bodies—an ugly truth that Americans must not ignore.
It is a controversial tactic, always generating some level of offended opposition, but it is without doubt an honest one. “It’s not pretty,” agrees Eric Scheidler of the Pro-Life Action League, the organization that coordinates the Face the Truth tours. Through the Face the Truth tour, the pro-life movement allows people to confront the ugly reality of abortion, inviting them to reconsider the issue and do something to try and prevent it.
Eric Scheidler, executive director of the Pro-Life Action League, reports that past Face the Truth tours have generated immediate positive results. “We’ve had women come to us and thank us,” he explained. “With their abortions already scheduled, they saw our pictures and it changed their hearts.” And that’s why the Pro-Life Action League will continue to organize this important public education campaign.
Participants in the Summer 2011 Face the Truth tour will share their life-saving message in Rockford on Tuesday, August 9. Face the Truth will line the streets at Riverside Boulevard and Alpine Road right after the morning rush hour, from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. As drivers get a dose of graphic reality, the tour will move along Alpine Road to East State Street where the lifesaving displays will remain from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. At 3 p.m. the Pro-Life Action League and friends will take the message to the final location of the day, East State Street and Perryville Road, where the summer witness wraps up at 4:30 p.m. Time and location details for the Summer 2011 Face the Truth tour are available at http://prolifeaction.org/truth/tours.php.
