In Memory of Ed Cole: 1927 – 2011
(Ave Maria, FL ) – I just received word that Ed Cole passed away peacefully on Monday in the company of his beloved wife Marilyn and his 3 children.
Ed and Marilyn Cole were pioneers of Ave Maria. They moved to Ave Maria to spend the rest of their lives together and have been extremely active in the community.
Ed and Marilyn went to grade school together, but their lives took separate paths and each married other spouses and raised families. After they were both widowed, they reacquainted at their 50th high school reunion and were maried 14 years ago.
My fiance’ Elise and I had the privilege and honor of meeting Ed and Marilyn Cole at the Ave Maria University, Students for Life Gala on Sunday November 6. (Literally one month ago). Ed and Marilyn were such a beautiful couple and upon meeting them we hit it off instantly!
It turned out that Ed and Marilyn attended the same church in Tequesta, Florida where I attended growing up! They lived only 5 minutes way from where I spent most of my life!
They moved to Ave Maria to support the Catholic community and to enjoy their time with each other.
This couple has been an inspiration to me because they so gracefully demonstrated the virtues of faith and family through love and kindness to others. I feel so blessed to have been able to meet Ed and look forward to many years of friendship with Marilyn.
There will be a funeral Mass for Ed at the Ave Maria Oratory at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 9, with viewing at the oratory at 9:30. There also will be a Mass of Christian Burial at St. George Church in Guildford, CT, where he and Marilyn also lived during the summer.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Ave Maria University Scholarship Fund, Ave Maria University,5050 Ave Maria Boulevard, Ave Maria, FL 34142.
