WASHINGTON D.C. – On January 16, 2012, Ave Maria School of Law issued a press release describing details for the inaugural Law of Life Summit.   Now, just 2 days later the Summit has been picked up by well over 100 blogs and news websites.

A simple google search for “law of life summit” shows the impact the Summit has already had prior to even taking place.   At least 5 pages into the google search results turns up links to stories related to the Summit.

“This needs to be big news.”  said Summit organizer and student Royce Hood.    ”We are attempting to overturn 39 years of genocide and people should know about our efforts and the efforts of those participating in the Law of Life Summit.”

Father Michael Orsi, Chaplain of Ave Maria School of Law said on one of his recent radio broadcasts that “40 years in the desert is long enough”.

We are entering the 39 year of Roe v. Wade.   Since the passage of Roe v. Wade in 1973, over 50 million babies have died from abortion.   To put into perspective that means 1 out of 3 children born after 1973 have been aborted.      Or, 4,000 children each day are lost to abortion.   Mothers are hurt and families have been destroyed.

The Summit wants to overturn Roe v. Wade and the goal is to end the evil of abortion.   But we must also help those who need healing from abortion and we must pray for the conversion of those who participate in the procedure of administering abortion.  Last, we must support and encourage pro-life alternatives to abortion such as adoption and maternity homes.

The Summit will issue a series of “measurable and achievable” short-term objectives for picking away at the foundation of Roe v. Wade.
