When the official history of the great human rights movement of our age is written – and make no mistake it will be written – there will be several women, men, associations, movements and organizations holding a deserved place of honor. Right at the top of that list will be an indefatigable Catholic Priest and Champion for Life named Fr Frank Pavone and the vital association which the Lord of Life called him to found, Priests for Life. I recently had the joy of speaking at length with my friend of many years. I asked him about the events of the last several months and have incorporated his responses in this article.

According to the decree of Debbie Wasserman-Schultz, if ever I were to run for public office and be elected, it would not be a victory for women because I’m not the right kind of woman. In fact, women like me are a detriment to the cause and must be kept out of public influence. Pardon me, Ms. Schultz, but who are you to say that women’s concerns can only be served by those who champion your boss’s commitment to abortion and contraception? I have news for you: families don’t flourish in an environment dominated by abortion and contraception.

Morally good and constitutionally right as it is to argue for the protection of our religious liberty in light of the current threat of a mandate, we cannot hope to achieve victory if we continue to provide fertilizer in the enemy camp. Plainly stated, it is a contradiction that we fight for religious liberty in our healthcare system while at the same time the majority of Catholic physicians in our pews willingly sustain the culture of death by penning countless prescriptions for contraceptives and scheduling quick and easy sterilizations.

A federal judge in Nebraska has thrown out a lawsuit brought by seven states against Obama’s contraception mandate. US District Court Judge Warren K. Urbom tossed the suit saying they could not show any harm from the edict and that they had no standing to sue.

After Obama struck down a law that prohibited tax dollars from going overseas to clinics that promoted abortion, he is at it again. Earlier this year in the country of Bulgaria, the Administration spent tax dollars to sponsor the Gay Bulgarian Film Festival as well as an after show party. Furthermore, his administration under Secretary of State, Hillary Clinton, are using resources to promote homosexuality.
