Cupertino, Calif., Dec 2, 2011 / 06:12 am (CNA).- The failure of the iPhone’s Siri program to locate some abortion clinics drew praise from pro-lifers and criticism from pro-abortion rights advocates, but Apple said the lack of recommendations was unintentional.

“Our customers want to use Siri to find out all types of information, and while it can find a lot, it doesn’t always find what you want,” Apple spokeswoman Natalie Harrison told CNA on Dec. 1.

“These are not intentional omissions meant to offend anyone, it simply means that as we bring Siri from beta to a final product, we find places where we can do better and we will in the coming weeks.”

Royce Hood Comment:  If Apple is smart, they will continue to omit the abortion clinic services from the iPhone. Including it would be counter productive and would offend many!   Plus the legacy of Steve Jobs would be undermined by including something for which he himself was glad to have avoided (abortion!)
