Christianity began in the Middle East, and now Christians are being forced to flee their homes in record numbers. Anne, Mariam and the other refugees I met are real people. They have names and faces and dreams just like you and me. But their dreams have been taken away from them due to hatred and persecution. The Arab Refugee Christians in the USA (ARC-USA) is one organization trying to help.
A true witness of Christ will be someone who is also fearless. Fearless witnesses are those who have abandoned themselves to the loving friendship of Jesus. They trust his power and his presence. They know that the judgments of time will be corrected by the judgments of eternity. We are in dire need of men and women who will evangelize a difficult world by the witness of their lives. Difficulties, struggles and hardships do not lessen in life as we age. Rather, they just change their complexion. We change in and through them. They can become the vehicle for some of the greatest growth in our relationship with the Lord. What had been intended for our demise can become the path to our restoration. The saints of old, such as St. Paul, grew so accustomed to difficulties they began to “boast” of them. The question that we should ask ourselves when we face struggle, difficulty, failure, disappointment and the frequent pain of life is how we respond?
God gifts us all a talent and a mission. We need to custody charity in out every action, loving friends and enemies.
How many middle class Americans support communism? The middle class Americans I know are freedom loving patriots who thank God every night for the blessings of every day!
