U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder has ordered an investigation into Internal Revenue Service political targeting of some conservative groups. “The FBI is coordinating with the Justice Department to see if any laws were broken,” he told reporters. Even if none were, the actions “were certainly outrageous and unacceptable,” Holder added.
The IRS has an audit of its own to worry about as the House Ways and Means Subcommittee on Oversight orders the department to hand over all communications related to their apparent persecution of conservative groups.
Tea Party chapters around the nation are blasting the Internal Revenue Service after the federal agency sent them letters demanding information about their politics, contributors and even family members.
Texas Gov. Rick Perry has reiterated his opposition to the Obama edict that Medicaid should be expanded. The opposition could cost the state $90 billion. However, Perry explained on Monday that accepting the expansion would make the state “hostage” to the federal government.
The measures’ supporters, who expected court challenges, were undaunted.
