OP-ED: A National Shame: President Obama Should Not Keynote the Planned Parenthood Fundraising Gala

WASHINGTON,DC (Catholic Online) – On the day that a Judge named Minehart threw out three of the seven murder charges against the abortionist Kermit Gosnell who is on trial in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, came news that President Barack Obama will be the keynote speaker at a Gala event on Thursday night in Washington, DC. The event is called “The Time for Care” and it will raise money for the activities of Planned Parenthood.Cecille Richards, the President of Planned Parenthood flashed her smile and told the Press:

“President Obama has done more than any president in history for women’s health and rights. He understands that access to birth control and preventive health care are economic issues for women and their families.  We fought alongside him to ensure that women’s health access was expanded in the landmark Affordable Care Act, and now we have to fight hard to ensure that the full promise of health care reform is realized for millions of women.  We are honored to have President Obama join us at our ‘Time for Care’ Gala at this pivotal moment for women’s health.”

Of course, the propaganda code words are intentionally designed to conceal the truth. Planned Parenthood is the number one provider of abortions in the United States of America. The President of the United States is volunteering to be their number one fundraiser. What Kermit Gosnell did in his house of horrors in Philadelphia is no different than what is done in every abortion in a Planned Parenthood facility. The only difference is that the evil is hidden from view.

Horribly, the same sonogram technology now used for baby’s first pictures, which we share with one another and show on television commercials, is often used to guide the instruments of execution or the injection of the chemical weapons in Planned Parenthood facilities. These are the very facilities which the President of the United States will raise money for on Thursday evening.

The same deadly snipping using surgical scissors which Gosnell performed on children outside of the womb is done within the womb at Planned Parenthood facilities. The same body parts found in the House of Horrors in Philadelphia are suctioned and scraped out of the wombs of women who have been lied to by Planned Parenthood. The events in West Philadelphia – and this speech by the President on Thursday evening – both call us to examine who we are becoming as a Nation.

We are killing our children based upon the sole criteria of convenience and whether they are wanted. Usually, the disposal of their little bodies is hidden from our eyes. We do not want to see what an abortion really looks like. When people show graphic images of the remains of a child killed by abortion, they are called extremists. Yet the trial of Kermit Gosnell removes the veil for all to see the truth.

Planned Parenthood calls itself a Health Care Provider and includes the taking of the lives of innocent children in the womb as a service under what they euphemistically call reproductive services. There is nothing reproductive about abortion. The taking of innocent human life is not health care. It is also not a service to the child, the mother, the father or society. The President of the United States should not be raising money for them.  Planned Parenthood must be defunded.

Planned Parenthood charges women, many of whom have been deceived and are themselves the second victims, for killing their own children. The abortionists who carry out the evil act use surgical strikes, brutal suction or what they euphemistically now call a medication abortion (using chemical weapons) to cause these deaths of children. They are often paid for the evil act with our tax dollars. This Gala will raise funds to add to the treasury.

Every procured abortion is the intentional taking of innocent human life in the first home of the whole human race. Every person alive today began their human life in that sanctuary of life, the womb. No one with any integrity or genuine moral sensibility any longer claims that the child in the womb, whom we now surgically operate and see clearly in 4D images, is not a human being.

The argument made to try and justify this killing of our youngest neighbors is the perverse idea that freedom somehow gives a new right to the one with more power to hire an abortionist to reach inside the sanctuary of the womb and take the life of a vulnerable and innocent child. Yet, every procured abortion denies the fundamental, inalienable Human Right to Life of an innocent child.

There is no moral distinction between what Planned Parenthood does and the actions of Kermit Gosnell which are now on trial in Philadelphia. They both cause the intentional killing of a child. The time thresholds of viability set forth under the insane framework forced upon us by the Supreme Court’s Roe and Doe decisions are regularly pushed back. Science has confirmed what our consciences have known all along, every procured abortion kills a child, a neighbor, a son or a daughter.

The arguments that dependency and development make us less human are themselves inhuman. They were the same arguments used in such notoriously evil defenses of the holocaust such as the 1920 book entitled “Permitting the Destruction of Life Unworthy of Life“ written by German Lawyer Karl Binding and German Doctor Alfred Hoche. It laid the groundwork for the Nazi T4 euthanasia program which in turn became a defense for the Holocaust.

The truth is we are all dependent upon others throughout our life and we are always developing throughout our life. We owe an obligation in solidarity to one another. Most especially, we owe an obligation in solidarity to those who have no voice but our own. We must protect them against the deadly violence committed against them in every procured abortion. Planned Parenthood is routinely engaged in taking the lives of innocent children in the womb using our tax dollars. Now, the President of the United States will be their main speaker on Thursday evening to raise even more money for their treasury.

Our civil and criminal law has rejected the Natural Law Right to Life. Instead of protecting children it protects the perpetrators of intentional homicides committed against our youngest neighbors through abortion. Until the positive law is changed to reflect the truth, our tax dollars must not be used to fund the evil. We must do what we can in every State in the United States to defund Planned Parenthood. We must also speak out against the President of the United States of America speaking at the Planned Parenthood National Gala in Washington, DC on Thursday and raising money for Planned Parenthood. Money is fungible. It will be used to further evil. The President should not participate.

Pro-Life heckler “totally throws Obama’s game” at Sunday campaign stop

LifeSiteNews.com - News reports are noting only one item of interest from President Obama’s campaign stop in Cincinnati yesterday, one of the “precious few” he has left before tomorrow, Election Day.

And that is a pro-life heckler who “totally hijacked” the rally, followed by another. As a result, “Barack Obama was totally thrown off his game.”
No justice, no peace. Let that reminder of the gravity of this election stick in the minds of voters going to the polls tomorrow.

Obama brings up Planned Parenthood at least 3 times in Tuesdays debate

MariaNews.com –  There is not one issue that divides Americans more than abortion.    People are either for it or against it.   Some pro-lifers and even pro-choicers have attempted to create a middle ground that sounds like this “Well I don’t personally like abortion, but I don’t feel comfortable telling other people what to do.”  - The middle ground simply doesn’t work for Catholics when voting for political candidates.

During the Tuesday night debate President Obama attempted to raise the divisive issue of abortion.   On at least 3 occasions he said that Mitt Romney favors defunding Planned Parenthood.   Romney never took the bate.

If Obama wanted to raise a question about Romney position as a pro-life candidate he could have done so.  Instead, Obama tried to advance the so called “War on Women” argument by baiting Romney into the issue.    Given Obama’s debate strategy of labeling Romney a liar, it was probably smart for Romney not to tackle the issue during the debate.

For Catholics, knowingly voting for a politician who supports abortion is a moral evil.  EWTN has an excellent voters guide which explains why:

If a political candidate supported abortion, or any other moral evil, such as assisted suicide and euthanasia, for that matter, it would not be morally permissible for you to vote for that person.  This is because, in voting for such a person, you would become an accomplice in the moral evil at issue. For this reason, moral evils such as abortion, euthanasia and assisted suicide are examples of a “disqualifying issue.” A disqualifying issue is one which is of such gravity and importance that it allows for no political maneuvering. It is an issue that strikes at the heart of the human person and is non-negotiable. A disqualifying issue is one of such enormity that by itself renders a candidate for office unacceptable regardless of his position on other matters. You must sacrifice your feelings on other issues because you know that you cannot participate in any way in an approval of a violent and evil violation of basic human rights. A candidate for office who supports abortion rights or any other moral evil has disqualified himself as a person that you can vote for.

Planned Parenthood Buys $3.5M in Anti-Romney Ads

Breitbart.com - It’s no surprise that Planned Parenthood, its president Cecile Richards, and its loyalists are out in force to re-elect Barack Obama. Mitt Romney has said he would cut off federal tax dollars to the group, while President Obama is one of the abortion giant’s most fervent allies.

Recent disclosure reports show that Planned Parenthood’s various PACs and independent expenditure organizations have already spent nearly $6 million in this election cycle to support Obama and pro-abortion champions while attacking Romney. That’s a lot of cash for a so-called non-profit that survives thanks to government funding that makes up nearly 50 percent of its annual budget.

Cecile Richards has made her goals clear. She wants Planned Parenthood to be the “largest kick-butt political organization” in the country – and, of course, she wants Obama re-elected so that her coffers continue to be filled with our tax dollars. Nearly 50 percent of Planned Parenthood’s $1 billion in annual revenues comes from you and me in the form of government funding – about $1.5 million a day in local, state, and federal tax dollars. With her trough full of government funding, Richards is free to focus on raising money to support pro-abortion candidates and attack pro-life Republicans.

Condoleezza Rice floated as possible running mate for Romney

LOS ANGELES, CA (Catholic Online) – There is increased speculation that former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice may emerge as Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney’s running mate. The Drudge Report Web site inflamed another round of the vice-presidential guessing game by posting an item attributed to “sources,” naming her as one of the top contenders to be Romney’s running mate.

The item on the Drudge Report mentioned a fundraising email the 57-year-old Rice sent Thursday night on Romney’s behalf as part of the campaign’s “Meet the VP” drive. The drive is intended to increase the number of small-dollar donors in which the winners get to meet the candidate and his eventual running mate.

No one in the Romney camp confirms or denies the story, in keeping with the campaign’s tight-lipped approach to the selection process. It has been theorized that the action was “a trial balloon” to gauge the reaction to Rice as a possible pick.

Romney campaign manager Matt Rhoades has a close working relationship with Matt Drudge. Rhoades sent an email to supporters alerting them to the campaign’s latest fundraising push/ “Sometime between now and the Republican convention, Mitt will be announcing his choice for VP.”

Romney told a crowd in Grand Junction, Colorado, “I can tell you . the person I choose, you will look at and say, well, that’s a person who could be president, if that were necessary . And that, for me, is the most important single criteria.”

Analysts say that Rice’s assets are evident: She’s a woman; she’s black; she has extensive foreign-policy experience and her inclusion on the ticket would scramble the race in ways few other candidates could.

There are downsides to Rice. She has favored abortion rights, a position Romney has moved away from; she has never run for elected office and she waged frequent battles with former Vice President Dick Cheney. Many conservatives also believe she was indecisive on Iran and North Korea policies during the George W. Bush administration.

If elected, her presence would also feed Democratic criticism that Romney represents another four years of President Bush.

In a CNN poll of Republicans in April, Rice drew the highest levels of support as a possible running mate.

Twenty-six percent of the respondents picked her, compared with 21 percent for former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum and 14 percent for both New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio. The poll showed Ms. Rice to have an approval rating of 80 percent.

Planned Parenthood’s Manipulative Language Strategy Leaked

The power of words and formulating arguments is an extremely powerful and precise science. While pro-life advocates are careful to use words that accurately represent terms that surround abortion, Planned Parenthood is careful to craft their language and arguments in a way that will subtly manipulate the issue and cause confusion. In addition to manipulating confusion, documents (http://studentsforlife.org/files/2012/07/Scanned-from-a-Xerox-multifunction-device0011.pdf) that SFLA has recently obtained from Planned Parenthood of NYC also proves that the abortion Goliath knows its losing in the court of public opinion.

In one section entitled, “Talking Points,” Planned Parenthood’s goal is clear: push feelings of empathy for the woman in order to diminish the sting of abortion. They want their representatives to “evoke empathy, emphasize personal decision making, and accept ambivalence” when speaking about abortion. The most shocking bullet point on this page is when Planned Parenthood suggests that in order to win a person over to the pro-choice side your job is to make the other person feel relief that they didn’t have to have an abortion. These talking points blatantly prove that they understand abortion is not liked; a fact SFLA recently documented in our nationwide poll, showing that the plurality of 18-24 year olds view abortion as a “bad thing.”

In another section entitled, “Tips for Fielding Tough Questions”, Planned Parenthood of NYC opens by stating, “The secret to fielding tough questions is to stick to your worldview! After all, questions are simply opportunities for you to get your message out.” Or more straight forwardly interpreted: “Don’t really answer questions, just give them enough so that you can tell them how wonderful Planned Parenthood is.” Their suggested response to the question, “Why are you a baby killer?” is “I’m proud to work for Planned Parenthood. We’re a nationwide healthcare provider…” In a basic high school philosophy class, Planned Parenthood would have learned that they have just committed a logical fallacy of answering a challenge with an irrelevant conclusion. But this guide is not concerned about logic, it’s about ensuring that Planned Parenthood advocates are emotional and argument manipulators.

The good news is that we know we are winning because Planned Parenthood blatantly admits it must use emotion over fact and logical fallacies to make their case. However, we know more must be done and as pro-life advocates we must work to make sure Planned Parenthood does not succeed in steering the public eye away from the issue of abortion.  And don’t be afraid to call Planned Parenthood what it really is: an abortion Goliath, manipulator of women, criminal (http://www.lifesitenews.com/news/former-planned-parenthood-employee-sues-abortion-giant-over-medicaid-fraud), and a baby killer.

Clinic wants abortion before safety

JACKSON, MS (Catholic Online) – The fate of a controversial Mississippi law designed to protect women is in the hands of a federal judge today. US District Judge Daniel P. Jordan III has stayed the law from going into effect while he decides if it violates existing laws that allow women access to abortion.

The Mississippi state legislature passed the law which requires, among other things, that doctors who perform abortions have hospital privileges and can accompany women to the hospital if complications arise from the procedure. Defenders of the law say it applies common-sense safety precautions to an inherently dangerous and invasive surgical procedure that is prone to complication.

Meanwhile, opponents, chiefly the Jackson Women’s Health Organization, which is the state’s only abortion mill, says the requirement to have hospital privileges would cause “irreparable harm.”

State attorneys have countered, “inconvenience is not irreparable harm.”

Last month, Jordan issued a temporary restraining order to prevent the law from taking effect. Today, at 1 PM, Jordan is expected to decide what he will do next. Either he will make an immediate ruling from the bench, or he may delay proceedings further to issue a written ruling.

Both sides have been aggressive in their advocacy.

While the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision granted women access to abortions and denied the child’s Right to Life, it was modified by a 1992 decision, Planned Parenthood v. Casey. That opinion has been construed to allow states to regulate abortions before children are considered to be “viable”. The very concept of “viability” has changed numerous times since that decision. With increasingly earlier survival rates for children born prematurely, the notion is becoming even more hard to define.

The decision in Casey case also directed that states may not place “undue burdens” or obstacles in the path of women seeking abortions. It is unclear if Jordan will rule that requiring a Doctor perfomring the procedure to have hospital privileges constitutes an “undue burden”.

Attorneys for the abortion mill say the legislature and governor have an anti-abortion agenda that has spurred the bill, rather than the obvious safety measures the bill provides for the women. They point to a statement made by Governor Bryant that he wants Mississippi to be an abortion-free state.

Regardless of the Governor’s personal stance however, the majority of people in Mississippi hope that Judge Jordan will rule for safety and uphold the law, particularly when it comes to a procedure that kills one-half of the patients who undergo it.

Komen Foundation, an organization dedicated since 1982 to fighting, and one day curing, breast cancer, decided to extricate itself from the culture wars by discontinuing grants to Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest provider of abortions. The grants Komen had been making amounted to $650,000 last year, funding some 19 local Planned Parenthood programs that offered manual breast exams but only referrals for mammograms performed elsewhere.

The reality is that Planned Parenthood—with annual revenues exceeding $1 billion—does little in the way of screening for breast cancer. But the organization is very much in the business of selling abortions—more than 300,000 in 2010, according to Planned Parenthood. At an average cost of $500, according to various sources including Planned Parenthood’s website, that translates to about $164 million of revenue per year.

So how did Planned Parenthood and its loyal allies in politics and the media react to Komen’s efforts to be neutral in the controversy over abortion?

NEW YORK, NY (LifeNews.com) –  The nation’s biggest abortion business has purchased a new building in New York City that will become its national headquarters. New city records reveal Planned Parenthood purchased a commercial condo unit at 424 West 33rd Street for $34.8 million.

According to The Real Deal, a New York City real estate news web site, Planned Parenthood originally signed a 20-year lease for 104,000 square feet of the 200,000-square-foot former industrial building that was converted into an office and condo building in 2002. The building had rented at about $35 per square foot until the abortion business purchased the commercial condo from Vectra Management Group, a real estate firm that had owned the building since 2000.

Obama addressed more than 2,000 activists at the National Women’s Law Center Annual Awards Dinner, where he bashed congressional Republicans for their efforts to deny federal funding to the Planned Parenthood abortion business, which does more abortions than any other organization in the United States:
