Given Joe Biden’s support for what his Church has identified as intrinsic evils – and thereby persistently against the common good – and given Paul Ryan’s position consistent with the indisputable and unchangeable teachings of his Church on these issues, it seems that what is involved is not a “Tale of Two Catholics” but rather a tale of one Catholic and one . . . well, whatever we call him, it is something considerably less than Catholic. What I didn’t expect from NFP was how my wife’s chart had become a visible sign to me of the unseen reality of womanhood. Despite my best attempts to be a good and understanding man who “gets” my wife, I fail often enough.I learned NFP because I was willing to think outside the box, in a way that is different from those members in society who are failing in marriage. I wanted my wife and I to have the best chances of staying married until death do us part.
Bridget married Ulf and together, as a fruit of their love, they had eight children. In the hearth of the home she learned the way of selfless, kenotic love. Through the real nitty-gritty stuff of family life, including the tragic loss of a child, she became so configured her to Jesus Christ that she became a prophetic voice to the world of the twelfth century, addressing its leaders in a manner which led them to the way of repentance. After years learning the way of domestic holiness, domestic kenosis, she and her husband Ulf made a pilgrimage which changed the course of their lives.
