It might be an email or a phone call, but they come in regularly now–enquiries from Evangelicals who are interested in the Catholic Church. They call me because they have heard that I was brought up as an Evangelical and graduated from the fundamentalist Bob Jones University–but now I’m a Catholic priest.

The fate of a controversial Mississippi law designed to protect women is in the hands of a federal judge today. US District Judge Daniel P. Jordan III has stayed the law from going into effect while he decides if it violates existing laws that allow women access to abortion.

China’s One Child Policy demands our outrage! We call upon the Obama Administration to take a strong and public position decrying this horrid abuse of human rights. Of course, it is increasingly hard to take the moral high ground when the same Obama Administration continues its own governmental policy of defending the killing of children in the womb, at any time and for any reason, in our own country – calling it a “reproductive right” and seeking to fund it under the Affordable Care Act.

An anti-life activist has surreptitiously photographed her own abortion and posted the images online in what she claims is an effort to “demystify” the practice. The woman, who uses the name “Jane Young” on the site, claims the imagery commonly used by pro-life activists, is mere propaganda and that women are being used as pawns in a national debate.

It became official yesterday. As the US Supreme Court upheld the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act, a.k.a. Obamacare, the Catholic church now faces its greatest, most fundamental threat in modern American history. And although many Catholics continue to support President Obama, it is probably because they do not understand the implications of the ruling and Obama’s battle royale with the Catholic church.

President Obama delivered a speech Monday at a New Hampshire high school during which he touted abortion and Planned Parenthood, then closed by invoking the blessings of God. The nature of the speech combined with the inappropriateness of the forum, and the invocation of our Lord, hints at cognitive dissonance.
