“Vice Presidential Candidate Ryan is aware of Catholic Social Teaching and is very careful to fashion and form his conclusions in accord with the principles mentioned above. Of that I have no doubt.A Catholic conscience can never take exception to the prohibition of actions which are intrinsically evil. Nor may a conscience well-formed by reason or the Catholic faith ever choose to vote for someone who clearly, consistently, persistently promotes that which is intrinsically evil. However, a conscience well-formed according to reason or the Catholic faith, must also make choices where intrinsic evil is not involved. How best to care for the poor is probably the finest current example of this.”

Christianity began in the Middle East, and now Christians are being forced to flee their homes in record numbers. Anne, Mariam and the other refugees I met are real people. They have names and faces and dreams just like you and me. But their dreams have been taken away from them due to hatred and persecution. The Arab Refugee Christians in the USA (ARC-USA) is one organization trying to help.

The homosexual equivalency activists who want to redefine the institution of marriage are hard at work in Australia. Two pieces of legislation have been advanced in an effort to to bring about a Cultural Revolution. The Bishops Pastoral letter deserves the full attention of our readers around the globe. The Catholic faithful of that beautiful Nation deserve our prayer and solidarity. There is an accelerating effort to make homosexual partnerships the legal equivalent of marriage in the positive law and to then use the Police Power of the State to enforce such a restructuring on the rest of civil society.

Solidarity fulfils its role of “social virtue” when it is founded on “structures of subsidiarity and on each individual’s firm and unrelenting determination to work for the common good. Increasing people’s sense of responsibility also involves protecting human dignity against any attempt to circumscribe it.
